Beginner Band

Beginner Band is the first step in your musical journey as a member of the Vivian Field Viking Band. Students in the Beginner Band will be in instrument specific classes where they can learn to play their instrument in a small-group setting. No previous musical background is required. Students will learn how to play their instrument in a fun environment designed to teach all of the skills necessary to be successful in middle school and beyond.

The Beginner Band will perform several concerts throughout the first year. We will have our Beginner Demonstration Concert in the fall semester and a Spring Concert at the end of the year, as well as travel to a competition in the spring semester. Students in the Beginner Band will be expected to take their instrument home every day to practice and have all supplies and music in class every day. There are minimal rehearsals outside of school for students in Beginner Band and all obligations will be communicated in advance.

The Beginner Band is primarily made up of 6th grade students, but we love beginners of any age!
