Meet the Principal
J.R. Hughes
J.R. Hughes has been named the Principal of Vivian Field Middle School for the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District.
Mr. Hughes began his career in education in 2010, where he taught social studies at Rowlett High School in Garland ISD. In 2015, he moved into an Assistant Principal position at Hillcrest High School in Dallas ISD. He then went on to pursue Assistant Principal positions at Naaman Forest High School in Garland ISD and Paetow High School in Katy ISD before advancing into a Principal role. Since 2021, he has served as the Principal of Cedar Valley Middle School in Round Rock ISD.
J.R. holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Southern Methodist University. He also holds Principal K-12, Instructional Leadership Development, T-TESS Certified Appraiser and Social Studies 8-12 certifications.
