Meet the Assistant Principals
Rhonda Shepard
Hello Vikings,
My name is Rhonda Shepard and I am honored to serve as an Assistant Principal at Vivian Field Middle School. I was born in Huntsville, Alabama. I attended The University of Alabama in Huntsville where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in 1995. During my time at UAH, I became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 1997, I graduated from Alabama A & M University with my Master’s degree in Education.
I started my teaching career in Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District as a 5th grade teacher at Tom Landry Elementary. After teaching for 9 years, I accepted a position as the Assistant Principal at Barbara Bush Middle School for 2 years and Sheffield Elementary for one year. After my time at Sheffield, I was selected to be the Principal of Riverchase Elementary. I loved working with the younger kids and making life-long friendships there with my incredible staff. After serving 6 years in this position, I took a couple of years off to pursue some outside interests. In 2015, I made a return to my first love of teaching at Dan F. Long Middle School in Carrollton. I served in the role of Instructional Dean, Math Teacher, and Math Department Chair. I was excited this position became available at Vivian Field Middle School and I’m honored to work here.
I am happily married to Michael for 27 years and we are the proud parents of Michael Shawn (25), Leslie Brooke (21), and our fur baby Bailey (10). I enjoy reading, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.

Amber Cottingham
Hello FEARLESS FAMILY!!
My name is Amber Cottingham and I am extremely excited and honored to have the opportunity to serve as an Assistant Principal at Vivian Field Middle School. A little about me, I grew up in a small town called Merkel, just outside of Abilene.
I played softball for Angelo State University where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in 2009. (Side note: I was a member of the 2007 DII World Series Softball Team…. GO RAMS!) In 2015 I graduated from Abilene Christian University with my Masters degree in Leadership.
I began teaching in 2010 at Hawley ISD where I was a middle school math/science teacher, middle school volleyball/basketball coach, and the high school head softball coach. I came to CFBISD in 2017 to follow my husband's dreams of working in aviation. Creekview High School was my first stop in CFB, where I taught Math, was the 504 coordinator, assisted with admin duties, coached volleyball, and was the head softball coach.
My husband Cody is an airline pilot for SkyWest. We were married in July of 2013 and have enjoyed every day since! We have 3 amazing fur babies all named after baseball/softball: Easton (Black Lab), Wrigley (Silver Lab), and Mookie (Silver Lab.) Cody and I love spending time with family and sports: baseball/softball, football, and never miss NASCAR when they come to Texas Motor Speedway!
I am looking forward to an amazing year at VFMS, and ready to learn and grow with you all! If you need anything please do not hesitate to reach out to me: cottinghama@cfbisd.edu
